Group photo of Alpacas

Our Story Begins in 2014…
And Who Would Have Thought?

We were living out what some folks referred to as “the Good Life.” We were both semi-retired, spending seven winter months in sunny SW Florida, and five summer months on the water in beautiful Central New York. And as with many alpaca people, we stumbled into the magical world of Alpaca.

In the summer of that year, we found ourselves walking the grounds of a large craft faire in Sharon Springs, NY.

We came upon two very strange looking animals. As we approached them we could see these mesmerizing large sparkling eyes on two small furry animals that looked like deer. The husband and wife owners spared no time in telling their wonderful story about their journey with discovering and eventually raising alpaca. The enthusiasm and great joy they shared along with the overwhelming spirit of their alpaca captivated both of us.

Group activities at Seven Acres

Fast forward to the summer of 2015 and we found ourselves settled in to our log home with our two dogs, a little barn and five beautiful female alpaca. And the fun began!

Since then, we have added a few and are now the owners of some prize winning Huacaya alpaca. Our agri-tourism business includes competition alpaca, foundation and hobby animals, farm tours and social activities for the whole family.  We also have a couple of nice herd sires available for breeding. And for all you spinners out there, our exceptional fleece is available by the ounce or by the pound.

The farm is open by appointment for farm tours, on site yoga classes during the summer months, and Maddie’s Mercantile has lots of beautiful alpaca products for sale all year round. We also offer off site visits to schools, senior centers, and various organizations wishing to experience the fun of alpacas.

We are only a few miles north of the NYS Thruway Exit #39  and would love to have you visit. Bring the whole family. You won’t be disappointed.
